Happy Father's Day

A Pirate Cake

Here is a picture of the cake I made for Tim today. I used whoppers for cannonballs, root beer barrels for kegs and rolos for booty. I think it turned out pretty cute :)

Saturday Adventures

On Saturday morning we took Chase to the Orem Summerfest. We walked around and looked at all the booths, and had some snowcones. We also met up with Lauren and Gary for a bit. Here is a picture of me and Chase hanging out in the shade because it was so hot!

In the afternoon we had Mark and JanaRae and the kids over for a pool party and a barbecue. Here is a picture of Chase and his cousin Ryan. Aren't they cute! They're friends :)

That night Chase slept in his ducky robe and I thought it was so cute.

After Chase went to bed me and Tim had Ben & Jerry's cinnamon roll ice cream as recommended to us by a friend. It was heaven! You need to try this.

Gone Fishing

On Friday we went fishing after Tim got off work. Tim's dad gave me a fishing pole before they moved to New York and I promised I would use it. So Mike, here are some pictures of us enjoying one of your favorite hobbies :) We went once last summer but the lake wasn't stocked. This time Tim even caught a fish. It was a gorgeous day and we had a great time. Mom, don't worry. Chase has about half a bottle of sunscreen on.

Oh, also, a 13 year old told us we had a cute family. haha

Still no teeth...

Chase still has no teeth. Although every time we go out in public (for the last month or two, at least) all these old ladies comment on his teething since he's always chewing on his fists, or the edge of his carrier, or anything else he can find. The pediatrician told us some babies can "teethe" for months before they actually cut a tooth, and some babies only "teethe" for a few days before their first tooth. Anyways, we went to dinner last week, and Chase was sitting on tim's lap and eying his food even though he had just eaten. So Tim stuck the end of a pickle spear into Chase's mouth, kind of to show him "hey, this isn't that great, you don't want it" and also probably because he just wanted to see the sour expression on his face. Unfortunately Chase LOVED it. He chewed the whole thing down to the rind and then we had to ask for more because he screamed when we took it out. It was so bizzare, and I was a little afraid it was going to hurt his stomach, but he was totally fine. The next day I read that some babies like to chew on things like pickles and watermelon rind when they're teething, but I still thought it was funny. So here is a picture of Chase and his pickle.

Also here is a picture of Chase hanging out in his "TV chair" which I think so cute. I actually let him watch Signing Time last week because I want to teach him to sign and he thoroughly enjoyed it. Too bad for me.

And here are some pictures of our monkey sucking on his feet. I apologize because I have no idea how to turn the pictures horizontally so they look a little funny.

Mmmmmmm Gelato!

While in Las Vegas Katie introduced me to a new dessert that she learned to love while living in Europe, it's called gelato... and it is threatening to ruin my diet, because it's sooooo good :)

Shortly after returning from Las Vegas, my co-worker told me about a little Italian restaurant in Provo called Little Italy. I don't know all the details on it, but apparently it is owned by a real Italian Family and he told me that they made real gelato! So of course that evening I talked Katie into trying it out with me (it took a lot of convincing ;) Anyway we went and they make fabulous gelato!!!

Katie tends to like the more creamy flavours (spelled with a U because it's a European treat) like Chocolate Hazelnut and Coconut; I prefer the fruitier flavours like Mango and Strawberry. Anyway it's our new favorite treat, and we highly recommend that you all go out and try it. It's located on the corner of 3rd South and 3rd East in Provo.

The last 5 months

I finally figured out how to upload pictures from my phone and it was really fun to look at old pictures, and to see how Chase has grown. Here are some of my favorites:

The night he was born. He looks huge!

Here's my proof that he was holding his head up as soon as he was born. He's such a strong kid.

His first bath at home

A newsies hat my mom and sister bought for him that makes him look like an old man. Obviously, he's not a huge fan.

His little mittens, and his rainforest toy

His little bear suit for the winter

He was so bald!

Sleeping in his bouncer

His hair's not quite thick enough yet for a sweet faux hawk

Here he is today. Asleep again. He loves this bouncer. Can you tell?

Working on the house...

This is what I let Tim do to our office this weekend... He loves me for this. I actually don't really mind that much. It's too bad you can't see my desk in this picture, because the difference between his desk and mine is hilarious. It is pretty true of our personalities. On the subject of my OCD neatness, this is what I did to Chase's closet this weekend:

I love these bins! It is so easy to organize all his stuff, and when he's a little older and he has to clean up his toys, it's really just a matter of throwing everything in the bins. Actually my dream garage is one where everything you store is in color-coded plastic bins, and they're all specifically labeled with tape, and stacked upon eachother (as opposed to random boxes everywhere). That would be a beautiful garage.
Tim also ventured into our attic and put up some shelves so we could store stuff we don't use up there. He didn't explore the whole attic, so we can't be sure, but he tells me he's pretty sure that no hobo lives up there. I guess the footsteps I hear must be a ghost.

We didn't quite get the surround sound up, maybe next weekend. By the time we move, maybe we will finally be settled here.

Black Clowns

Tim brought me home a present the other night. I have wanted these forever! I love them!

A Saturday Swim

Here are some pictures of Chase's first real swim. He loved it! It was about 85 degrees and perfect weather for a swim. I think we'll probably be at our pool all summer.

Also on Saturday, Tim & I did some gardening. Mostly because I need a hobby. I rather enjoyed going to nurseries and Home Depot all day. It was actually quite fun. We started with some roses, strawberries, hanging flower baskets, and a pepper garden. Then I somehow convinced tim to let me plant pumpkins and watermelons. When I told my mom I wanted to do this, she laughed and said 'good luck with that'. Which of course hit my stubborn nerve, and was the one thing she could have said that would to ensure I did everything possible to make sure these grow. ("Channeling in the right direction" right mom...?) So I will let you know if they actually do grow... I just want to carve a pumpkin I grew myself. Here are some pictures.

they were all white when we got them, but some are starting to turn red
our roses are a pretty pinkish-orange color

And finally, Chase got a high chair. We voted for the booster seat since we have 4 empty chairs at the table anyways. He loves loves loves this thing! It is awesome. It has a rainforest toy that sits in the tray so your kid can play with it while you cook dinner, and then you can just pop it out when you feed him. It is awesome, if you're looking for a high chair I recommend this one. It's cheap too. I'm going to write a letter to Fisher Price and tell them to make other toy trays that pop in, because I would totally buy more.
